Nice exercise to help build up gross motor skills, agility and coordination aimed at primary school (KS1) children, but it would suit any age.

Equipment: For each person playing at the same time, you need 2 hula-hoops and a long (1 metre or so) rigid pole or stick. Also a destination for all to reach. This could be an additional hula-hoop.

The aim of the challenge is for each player from a starting point or line, to reach the destination but they can only stand inside the hoops, and they can only move the hoops using the sticks. In the demonstration shown on the video, the two children are sweeping the hoop they are not standing in around to the front using their sticks. Stepping into this hoop when it is in position and then turning around and sweeping the other hoop (the one they stepped out of) to the front to repeat the process. First person to reach the finish and step into the finish area wins (if this is being done as a race).

This could easily be adapted into a relay race, either with each player having to go around an obstacle and back or having the team split into two and players tag the next to go when they reach them at the other end of the course. First team to fully exchange sides wins.

However, this activity also works just as well as an individual challenge.
For older children what about adding the challenge of doing this blindfolded and being guided by vocal instructions from your teammates?
