AKA: Bambolê resgate
Brilliant game suggested by Marcos Renato Araujo (@edf.prof.marcos) if you have lots of hula-hoops available.
Equipment:
Lots of hula-hoops.
Ball for each team
Large hall or court with the space to play. Marcos uses half of a 5-a-side football pitch.
Play:
Lay out the hoops flat on the ground at one end of the pitch, so they do not overlap each other.
Teams stand at the other end of the playing area and take turns to roll the ball aiming for it to finish rolling inside a hoop. If the ball ends up in a hoop the player runs and retrieves that hoop and the ball and brings it back to their team, then passes the ball to the next team member. If the ball misses and does not end up in a hoop the player just retrieves the ball, brings it back and passes it to the next player.
Keep going either until all the hoops have been collected or for a set time period. The team with the most hoops wins.
You can play this with more than two teams competing against each other at the same time or only one group with the challenge to see how many they collect in a set time (or how long it takes to collect all of them).
Educationally there is a lot of coordination and motor control involved to get the accuracy and control of sending the ball with just the right amount of energy so it ends up in the targeted hoop.
