Heffalumps

Quite a nice, easy game for any ages, but possibly more for the younger rather than the older.

Players get into pairs and form a circle so that one member of the pair stands in front of the other with both facing the centre of the circle. On the command “ready” the player behind jumps onto their partner ‘piggyback’ style. On the shout of “Heffalumps” the player being given a piggyback jumps off, runs around the circle, and then jumps back on again. The last pair to do this in each round is knocked out.

You could combine this with other ideas such as calling “Elephant” (or any daft name :-)) and then getting everybody to run while they are piggyback.
