Guest posts and advertising
If you have an idea for a game or activity, we always would love to hear from you. Most of the time we write up the rules of the game or the activity idea from what you tell us, but we do welcome guest posts if you want to do this yourself.
Content restrictions
However, please be aware the ethos of this site is to be family friendly and caters to an audience that covers a wide age range. While we can not tell what percentage of visitors are children, we know children do use this site. So we avoid promoting things like gambling and casinos or recreational drugs like alcohol, nicotine, vaping, CBD, etc. A good rule of thumb is if it’s age-restricted in the UK, US or Europe then there is a good chance we will not accept it, but anything that promotes a game or activity that children of all ages and young people might enjoy is a possibility. If what you want to suggest doesn’t come under any of these, but you feel it suits the nature of the site, please feel free to contact us with your idea.
Quality and AI use
Posts should be of a quality that anybody reading them can replicate the game or activity from the instructions ‘and’ ideally not have any need to purchase specialist equipment. We love however, to hear of games that use readily equipment or equipment that can be made at home. We appreciate that this not necessarily possible for things like frisbee, slacklining, swimming pool or trampoline games and activities.
Academic articles are considered, but should be accurate and preferably backed by peer-reviewed research. Not reference to influencers and websites which state an opinion unsupported by research. We have staff who have been peer reviewers for academic journals, so do fact check!
AI can be very valuable in helping to compile information, but we have not accepted any yet. AI is still reliant on what information is generally available and compiles from that, for that reason it’s not necessarily safe, accurate or academically founded. So pieces are declined when we find these errors.
Advertising
If you want to advertise a product or service, there is a charge for placing any guest post which meets the guidelines and advertises and/or includes links to a commercial or equivalent site. The charge for a guest post depends on the time it is expected to remain on the website. Most posts remain for years often unless there is a specific request for it to be time-limited.

We appreciate much of this is a big ask for potential content writers, but when funandgames.org started in 1999, it was set out as being an archive of games and activities for all ages and accessible to anybody of any age who has access to the internet. There is no wish by the founder to change this.
