When I saw this being played it did rather give the vibes of expecting to hear somewhere in the background the Fleetwood Mac song “The Chain” 🙂 It’s easy and fun to play. It’s also probably good for helping build coordination.

Essentially it’s a relay race with teams having to get from one location to another. Typically from one side of a marked pitch to the other. Ideally each team needs to be even numbered, with a minimum of 4 players in each team.

Players in each team pair up, standing face-to-face, slightly apart, holding hands. So there is a line of pairs behind the start line. Start with the first pair sitting down face-to-face. The next pair of players immediately moves forward over the sitting players, but they can only do so keeping their hands together, so that those sitting pass under the bridge created by their arms and hands. Typically, players also find they have to move with a sideways motion. As soon as they are past the pair who are sitting, they then sit down themselves. The next pair in the team now passes over those sitting. When the last pair in the team has passed over all those who are sitting and has sat down, the first pair in the team stands up moves to the front, sits down. This continues with the last pair each time standing up, moving to the front over the others and then sitting, but throughout all players must not break their hold with their partners, or that pair has to go back to the start line and start again from there.

First team to reach the finish line wins. Or you can make it the first team to get all players over the finish line wins.
